Elaina Moore Hey Barbs! Did you know that our school offers off campus courses you can take starting your junior year? KEC stands for Kishwaukee Education Consortium. The course description says “is a cooperative, Education for Employment Delivery System made up of area high schools, Kishwaukee College and other agencies. Kec provides a variety of career and technical programs where students gain knowledge and skills for immediate employment after highschool or for advanced educational programs. Workplace, basic academic, and transition skills are taught as an integral part of each course.” You can find all this information on the counselors website here. There are so many different options you can take. The options are Automated Engineering Technology, Automotive Technology, Aviation, Barbering, Certified nursing assistant, Computer Information Systems, Cosmetology, Criminal Justice, Culinary, Diesel Power/Heavy Equipment, Early Childhood Education, Emergency Medical Technician, Esthetics and First Aid, Fire Science, Mass Communication, Medical Terminology, Sports Medicine, and Welding Technology. You can talk to your school guidance counselor about your options and interests. You can also apply on the website linked above but you still will need to have a meeting with your counselor.
